Parna

the Fair Child, the Vestal

With Hope in the Heart

Parna is the deity of hope and patron of the innocent. She maintains close relationships with the other gods, even Krill and Gill are said to grace her with a talk whenever she likes. The goddess of hope is known for her open mind and forgiving nature, often giving even the most depraved a second chance. However, one must not mistake her innocence and kindness for naiveté or gullibility. For she is also known for her keen insight and ability to read the hearts of people. She simply choses to give her hope freely and to everyone who needs it. So, it is not surprising that her devoted followers are found even in the darkest most dodgy alleys, on battlefields soaked with blood, near underworld bosses and amidst lawless pirates.

Depiction

She often shows herself to her followers as a pure young blonde girl, radiating with hope and determination that things will soon get better. Her dress is plain and most of the time of an unnatural, pure white, her hooded cloak the same colour as her eyes. She has a soft, kind face without any traces of age, however her light green eyes speak of sagacity and old age.

Parna is the goddess that is worshipped most widespread amongst the people that would not normally call themselves religious. Her unassuming nature, her known kindness and her forgiving nature allow a range of people to fall under her guidance. And everyone from a powerful queen, to a humble homemaker, to a lawless lowlife can do with a little bit of hope, right?

It is not uncommon to find a magnified statue of Parna at the main gates of large cities, for people think that her likeness will invite hope and peace into the city. Furthermore, most countries have at least one large Temple dedicated to the worship of Parna. There, divine services are held every Frìdas, as well as on special occasions. It is custom to collect money at the end of each service, which goes towards helping the poor and upkeeping orphanages that exist under the name of Parna. Whenever a golden cup is raised (or for that matter, a bronze, copper, or anything that looks at bit like gold), it is custom to toast to honour Parna.

Tenets of Faith

The right path, is the path that inspires hope.

May your actions light the way and bring hope into the world.

You can not wholly judge someone, for you can not know the whole truth.

You shall be forgiving and understanding.

Everyone deserves a second chance, even you.

Holidays

A Light in the Dark marks the holiday of Parna. On the last day of Nightfall, the 12th month, it is custom to prepare for the oncoming 5 days between the years. On those days, it is said that the gods fall into a deep sleep and thus retreat to their own planes of existence. Those days are both full of opportunity, for it is thought that the power of the gods over Seres is weakened, and full of dangers, as creatures and dark powers are said to awaken with the gods gone.

The choice to watch over Seres on these tumultuous times fell on Parna. In her name, large fires are lit when the night falls on the last day of the year. As long as they are kept burning throughout Dream, the people are protected. Should the fire die out however, bad things are sure to be happening.

The first day of the year is called New Hope. When the days of Dream are over and Seres returns to its status quo, it is custom to thank the goddess of hope for her protection. At first light her fires are quenched and a huge celebration takes place to welcome the new year.
